Pain - Surgery
The surgery department at ACHS offers a variety of patient-centered, top quality surgical services close to home, including a wide variety of procedures in the specialty area of pain management. Please note: pain medications are not prescribed or managed by ACHS pain surgeons.
The pain surgery team includes exceptional, board-certified surgeons, compassionate, mastery-certified NISE (Nurses in Surgery Essentials) registered nurses, and a dedicated anesthesia provider (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist).
Dr. Matthew Biggerstaff and Dr. Robert Rossi both specialize in surgical services for chronic pain and have more than 17 years and 20 years of experience, respectively.
To provide the highest quality patient care before, during and after each procedure to ensure a quick and seamless recovery. We are devoted to offering a safe, personalized and convenient outpatient surgery experience.
Our pain surgeons perform various procedures, including but not limited to:
- Epidural steroid injections
- Joint injections
- Nerve blocks
- Radiofrequency ablations
- Trial spinal cord stimulators
Common conditions treated with pain interventions include bulging, extruded or herniated disc; low back, neck or upper back pain; chronic headaches and pain; hip, joint, knee, leg or shoulder pain; peripheral neuropathy; phantom limb pain; post laminectomy syndrome; complex regional pain syndrome; degenerative disk disease; sciatica; and spinal stenosis.
Patients may schedule surgical consultation appointments with Dr. Biggerstaff or Dr. Rossi in Adair County Specialty Clinic (located in Adair County Memorial Hospital). Appointments are required. However, no referral is necessary for a consultation appointment.
Surgical procedures will be scheduled as appropriate following surgical consultation and provider referral. The Surgery Department will contact patients to schedule procedures after receiving all necessary authorization.
Hours: every other Wednesday
Dr. Matthew Biggerstaff – first Wednesday of the month, 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Dr. Robert Rossi – third Wednesday of the month, 2:00pm – S:00pm
